Google Maps for iOS updated with flight, hotel or restaurant reservations via Gmail sync

Google Maps for iOS just got updated to version 2.5.0 with a few trim new features, including the ability to show your flight, hotel or restaurant reservations. To do that, Google's Maps app on your iPhone or iPad now lets you sync your Google account, and you got to have the booking or reservation confirmation sent to your Gmail.

If those requirements are met, you will have a lovely confirmation pop-up with the flight info, when you search for LAX airport, for instance, and have a plane booked there. The same goes for hotel and restaurant reservations at places you point Google Maps to. Google brings over these helpful confirmations directly from the desktop Maps version to iOS, in the quest to update the software with ever-increasing useful features.

One thing is for certain - if it keeps going like that, with Google adding features that are to a large extent dependent on your data connection, the chances that we will see a truly offline version of Google Maps with downloadable country and state maps like on Lumia devices, are becoming slimmer and slimmer.
