The
update brings Google's increasingly standard card UI to the website,
and the look and feel is more customizable. You can now change the theme
between light and dark, change the font size, and even choose if you
want more in-depth snippets for each story card. Navigation has been
made easier with a new hamburger menu that gives easy access to various
sections. Overall, it looks pretty nice; and, definitely looks like it
could easily become a proper app. There are a few other tweaks, like
adding a weather widget to the Local section, a new Editor's Picks
section, and a collection of posts that are popular on Google+.
Google
says that the redesign will be visible to Android and iOS users with no
mention of Windows Phone devices, so we can't say how well it will work
there. The redesign is rolling out right now, starting with the U.S.
edition, but Google says it will be coming to International editions
"soon".
