Imagine being able to
play PS3 and PS2 games right there on your smartphone or tablet. Sounds
pretty cool, doesn't it? Sony is aiming to make that possible with its
new PlayStation Now service.
Think of it as
YouTube for games – the game itself will be run and processed by Sony's
PlayStation Now servers remotely and the video of the game will be
streamed to the user's mobile device. Needless to say, you'll need a
decent internet connection in order to use PlayStation Now. The service
will provide access to Sony's library of PS3 and PS2 games to not only
smartphone and tablet users, but also to owners of the PS3, PS4, the PS
VITA, and even to some TVs.
How do you get
PlayStation Now? Well, don't get too excited yet. The service will enter
its beta testing phase later this month and if all goes well, we'll be
enjoying some cloud-based gaming goodness some time this summer.
