A Wi-Fi-only model of Sony's first phablet, the
Xperia Z Ultra,
is in store, judging from its appearance in the AnTuTu benchmark and
FCC certification databases. Could it be that Sony will enter the fight
in the small tablets arena with the 6.4" Z Ultra, stripped of the
baseband modem?
After all, its screen diagonal is not much smaller than the one on the
Nexus 7, and it has many other virtues to show for it, like being one of the thinnest phones out there, which would translate to being
the thinnest tablet, at 6.5 mm.
It
is also waterproof, and can be scribbled on with a regular pencil, and
so on. We don't know yet Sony's intentions with the Wi-Fi-only Xperia Z
Ultra, but surely hope it will be much cheaper than its LTE-laden
sibling.
